Uruguay beats Brazil to advance to semi-finals

On Sunday morning, the last semi-final of the Copa America was played, Uruguay vs. Brazil. Both teams did not have many good scoring opportunities in 90 minutes, and the game ended in a dull draw and went into the penalty shootout. In the penalty shootout, Uruguay had the last laugh, defeating Brazil 4-2 to advance to the semi-finals.

 

At the start of the game, in the 18th minute, Uruguay had a corner kick opportunity on the right side. After the two sides competed for the header, Nahitan Landis got the ball outside the penalty area and passed it back to the penalty area . Dayun Nunes headed the ball and hit the Brazilian player out of the baseline. One minute later, Uruguay had a corner kick opportunity on the left side . Mathijs Olivera headed the ball high. In the 33rd minute, Ronno Araozo was injured while blocking his opponent and was replaced by Jose Kivenis . In the 35th minute, Brazil quickly counterattacked . Rafina Biloli almost had a chance to score a goal, but his shot was blocked by Lochat . At the end of the first half, both sides were tied.

After the change of sides, in the 47th minute, Fertigo Valverde made a long shot , but Alison Bikka confiscated the ball . In the 63rd minute, Fertigo Valverde received a cross from his teammate, adjusted and fired again, but the shot was too high. In the 74th minute, Nahitan Landis tackled the ankle of Rodigo Goss , and the referee first showed a yellow card, and then VAR intervened, and the referee changed it to a red card and directly sent Nahitan Landis off. Even with 11 against 10, Brazil still failed to create a good scoring opportunity. In the end, the two teams played 0-0 after 90 minutes and entered the penalty shootout.

 

Uruguay's first three players scored in the penalty shootout. On the Brazilian side, Aida Miledao's shot was saved and Douglas Reis Solas hit the post . Uruguay beat Brazil 3-1. Although Eriksenbecka saved Jose Givonis's penalty in the fourth round and Gabriel Martinelli scored successfully, Brazil still fell behind 2-3. In the fifth round of the penalty shootout, with Wenol Ugadi scoring steadily, Uruguay finally defeated Brazil in the penalty shootout with a score of 4-2.
